It’s Friday! Cheers!!

Even Gavin and Quinn are toasting to Friday today!

Can I just get a woot woot for the fact that it’s Friday?? (I don’t really talk like that . . . but given that this is the faceless internet, and I don’t have to see anyone snickering at me as I type it . . . Woot! Woot!).

This has been the most ridiculous week. Ok, maybe not the most ridiculous. The one recently where we were going through round two of ear infections and stomach flus was pretty insane.

This week there was a trip to the doctor (I could not be more grateful for the delicious cocktail of pain killers and antibiotics that I consumed this week), a new water heater (never tell someone to go take a cold shower – it is a form of torture), a family crisis (which included lots of prayers and big sigh of relief that everyone is ok).

But what I’m really saying cheers to this week is all my Blogging Buddies (I don’t know why I capitalized that, maybe it makes it more official?) from Online BlogCon. Have I mentioned the amazing Online Conference that Ashton and Dorothy put together? Not only did the content rock my socks off, but it created this awesome community of bloggers.

I think for awhile I didn’t really understand the concept of the blogging community. I mean we are each other’s competition . . . right? I mean, if you are going to look at things like a cold hearted robot, sure. that is one way to look at it. But it is kind of a crappy way to look at it.

It is so easy to compare yourself to other bloggers, and honestly if you are going to do that, you are always going to find someone who is “doing better” than you, whatever you decide “doing better” means. I don’t think I realized when I started blogging that my crazy Type A personality would kick in and make me nuts, wanting to be the perfect blogger with a gazillion (the actual number gazillion) followers. Immediately. It’s like I’ve never met myself before. I mean, my husband (my dear, sweet, patient, loving husband) has heard me say that I’m quitting the blog so many times, that I might as well be a dramatic fourteen year old girl. I was just shy of stomping my feet and slamming doors.

This was one of those weeks. I wanted to quit the blog. I was frustrated that I wasn’t getting more hits, and that my blog hasn’t grown as quickly or in the way I wanted it to.

And then, I spent a little time in the Online BlogCon FB group. What an amazing group of ladies! I got several pats on the back, and words of support. And I don’t even think they realized how much I was stomping my feet! They just got a small glimmer of my frustration and started being supportive!

Heidi from One Creative Mommy combed through Wine & Glue and pinned some things (leaving an awesome comment to boot!).

Julie, over at Julie’s Eats & Treats, gave me a much needed pat on the back.

Rachel at {I love} My Disorganized Life featured my Crockpot Qdoba Night.

And Joan (wonderful Joan who does a great job moderating the FB group) from Chocolate, Chocolate, and More featured my Rainbow Cupcakes.

There are more . . . they are all awesome. I actually hesitated to list any by name, because they are all so wonderful. But I guess that just means that I will have to do more Bloggy Love posts.

Anyway. Thank you ladies. You are all wonderful, supportive, and such wise blogging women.

I feel like the universe has a way of doing that – whenever I’m totally GRRRR about the whole thing, a simple pin or feature can totally make my day. I’m so glad that I have you in my community! :):)

What a wonderful and inspiring post. The blogging community is great. It’s always great to see one of us succeed. I feel like, if someone out there succeeds, it means there is a chance for us to succeed as well. Glad you got some well deserved pats on the back.

Lisa, I was having flash backs for a few moments, reading this post. I can’t tell you how frustrating it was to spend all my time baking, trying to take a decent photo (with a crappy camera phone at the time) Then, trying to find my “voice.” Then being upset when only 10 people saw my post. Now, I’m so thankful no one saw those first posts. It gave me the time I needed to improve what I wanted to be, to grow into my blog.
I’ve loved getting to know everyone in the Blogcon group. The food community truly is so supportive of each other. I can’t wait to watch you grow. Never give up.

Hi Lisa – I loooooove your blog. I’m not sure if you get “hits” when I read it because it is delivered to my email. I read it every time it arrives. I’ve tried my hand at blogging and may again, but for now I am enjoying reading about the lives of people like you. Keep up the good work.

Janet! Thank you! It always stuns me a little when I hear of total strangers who want to read I have to write. Thanks! You made my day :)
