Mushroom Meat Lover’s Pizza

Servings: 1 pizza
Author: Lisa Longley

Ingredients

  • pizza dough
  • 6 pieces of bacon
  • 1/2 pound spicy Italian sausage
  • 5 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 3 oz sliced pepperoni
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
  • Roll out your pizza dough and put it on a pizza stone. (I like to let it rest there for another 15 minutes or so.) Poke several fork holes throughout the pizza dough. Bake the pizza dough for 10 minutes.
  • While the pizza dough is baking, cook up the bacon until crisp in a cast iron skillet . Remove from the pan, leaving the fat, and place on a paper towel lined plate.
  • Cook the mushrooms in the bacon fat until they are soft. Remove them with a slotted spoon and put on the paper towel lined plate as well.
  • Cook the sausage in the pan as well until it is browned.
  • Top the hot crust with the pizza sauce, one cup of the cheese, the sausage, crumbled bacon, mushrooms, and pepperoni. Add the remaining cheese. Bake for 25 minutes or until the top has begun to brown and when you lift up an edge of the crust it is stiff.

Notes

You don't have to use a cast iron skillet, it's just that it cooks the bacon really well. If you use another type of pan be sure to save the bacon fat to cook the mushrooms.
