You know how much I love some good subway art. And I always make it using my Silhouette software! First I did it as a cut out with the Nickname Subway Art and then I did it again for Valentine’s Day. And now I’m doing it for Halloween, only this time I decided to go BIG.

Here’s the problem, my rinky dink printer (I take it all back, I love you printer, you are awesome, don’t start failing me now!!) doesn’t handle 12 by 12 paper! This problem, how to print on 12 by 12 paper, has bothered me since I started scrapbooking (a super fun hobby that has really fallen by the wayside since I started blogging . . . Gavin’s baby scrapbook is at him starting solids . . . ).

Now I have an answer to that problem!

Sketch pens from Silhouette!!

Sketch Pen Silhouette Promotion | August 21st to August 29th

Before I tell you about the awesome project I made, let me tell you about the current Silhouette promotion. Not only can you get the Silhouette Cameo or the Silhouette Portrait for a sweet deal, you can also score some really fun sketch pens too! And if you already have a Silhouette, you can just get the sketch pens!

1)    CAMEO plus sketch pen starter pack, metallic and glitter collection packs, plus a $25 gift card and a penholder for $269.99 ($88.96 off the retail price)

(2)    Portrait plus sketch pen starter pack, metallic and glitter collection packs, plus a $25 gift card and a penholder for $129.99 ($108.96 off the retail price)

(3)    Sketch pen starter pack, metallic and glitter collection packs, plus a penholder for $19.99 ($13.97 off the retail price)

If you are a scrapbooker, you definitely want these!

So here is how I did it.

1. Layout your words on the 12 by 12 page. Pick fonts that look like handwriting, because they end up looking the coolest.

2. Decide what color pens you are going to use, and set the words that you want in each color to be that color on the screen . . . just for organization sake.

3. Select all, and make them all no cut.

4. Now select all the words in the same color, say black, and set them as cut.

5. Now put in the black sketch pen, just like you would put in the blade, tell your Silhouette that you have sketch pen in (cut settings), and click cut. Then sit back and watch the magic happen.

6. When you are done with the black, mark all the black words as no cut. Select the next color, let’s say all the orange words, put in the orange pen, and click cut again. Then do the same with purple.

7. You’re done! Sit back and admire your work!

Oooooor, you could take on something else! A project where you cut and sketch!

Don’t you love how the white stands out on the black?

Set up a box that is the size of the frame it is going into. (That is what you will cut with your blade.)  Then create the design of what you want sketched. Unselect the outer box that you plan on cutting, and sketch away.

Replace the white pen with the blade, and cut out your piece. Then stick it in a frame!

You get why you need them now, don’t you?
