Ingredients

  • 1 pound salmon cut into four even filets, see note 1 (453 grams)
  • 1/2 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • kosher salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

Lemon Dill Sauce

  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or 1/4 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  • Preheat your broiler and move your oven rack to the top so that it will be about five inches from the broiler. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and set aside.
  • Spread the olive oil over the salmon. Then season with the salt and pepper. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
1 pound salmon, 1/2 - 1 tablespoon olive oil, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper
  • Place the salmon under the broiler and cook for five to eight minutes or until the salmon is still translucent when checked with the tip of a knife and registers 125 degrees Fahrenheit (see note 2). Be sure to check the salmon at the bottom end of the time range to ensure that the fish does not get over-cooked.
  • While the salmon is cooking, whisk together the ingredients for the lemon dill sauce.
1/4 cup plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 garlic clove, 2 tablespoons fresh dill, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Remove the salmon from the oven and transfer to a serving plate. Top each fillet with a dollop of lemon dill sauce. Top with more fresh dill, serve, and enjoy.

Notes

  1. You want the salmon to be of the same thickness. So you can either purchase one big piece of salmon and cut it into four even pieces, or you can ask this of your butcher counter. Typically, frozen salmon filets that you buy in a bag are a variety of different sizes and it is harder to cook them evenly.
  2. The FDA notes that salmon should be cooked to a temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
