Easy Waffle Recipe

This simple and delicious recipe for waffles is going to go on weekend repeat in your house. A crisp exterior with a fluffy interior, this simple breakfast recipe is a win.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour (240 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (227 grams or 236.6 ml)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (113.5 grams)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled (56.5 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a large bowl whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda. Set aside.

  • In a medium bowl whisk the eggs. Then whisk in the milk, sour cream, butter, sugar, and vanilla.

  • Whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until they are just combined. Let the batter sit for about 3 minutes.
  • Cook the waffles according to the instructions of your waffle maker. (For a 6.5 inch waffle maker, you will need 3/4 cup batter per waffle.) Serve and enjoy. (See note about keeping waffles warm.)

Notes

Since you will only be making one waffle at a time, I recommend keeping the others warm in your oven while you continue cooking. Set your oven to warm or 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Put a wire cooling rack on a baking sheet and put the cooked waffles in a single layer in the oven until you are ready to eat or serve them. This will keep them warm and prevent them from getting soggy.
