When it’s freezing outside and I need something that feels both nourishing and comforting, I turn to the same lineup: bright winter salads and steaming bowls of soup. There’s something about pairing crisp, fresh greens with something warm and creamy that just works for me this time of year.

I love how kale, Brussels sprouts, and hearty lettuces hold up to bold dressings, and how a good soup can make even the coldest evening feel manageable. These are the recipes I come back to over and over—the ones that use ingredients I actually have on hand and come together without a lot of fuss.

Some are quick enough for weeknights, others are worth the extra time on weekends when I want to slow down a little. Whether you’re looking for something to serve alongside dinner or a meal that stands on its own, these winter salads and soups have you covered. They’re simple, satisfying, and exactly what I want to eat when the temperature drops.
