Catalina Dressing is one of my husband’s very favorites, so I knew I needed to make him a homemade version. I love making my own salad dressings because I can control what I put in them, and I usually have all the ingredients on hand. This dressing is no different, and it is perfect to whip up for a side salad.

  • Tomato paste: Gives the dressing its signature tomato flavor and bright red color, but is thicker and more concentrated than ketchup.
  • Vegetable oil: Provides a smooth, silky base with a neutral flavor.
  • Sugar: Provides the classic sweetness Catalina dressing is known for, and balances the acidity of the tomato paste and vinegar.
  • White vinegar: Brings a bright, tangy flavor.
