It’s almost time for the Super Bowl, and I think you all know my favorite part about game day season – the snacks! I have so many recipes that make great game day food . . . enough to make up a whole tailgating party. I love tailgating parties because they contain all of my favorite kinds of recipes.
This Dill Dip is the perfect recipe for game day. It whips up really quickly, making it a great last minute recipe if you are a guest. And it is delicious with chips or cut up veggies, making it essential if you are hosting.
I have made the dip many times, it’s awesome. The children and grandchildren give it a thumbs up.
Ingredients for Dill Dip
- Sour Cream: I always make this recipe with light sour cream, but you can feel free to use full fat if that is your preference.
- Mayonnaise: As with the sour cream, I make this recipe with light sour cream and it works perfect.
- Diced Onion: This brings a lot of the flavor to this recipe. If you don’t want to chop the onion, you can replace it with dried onion flakes. If you go that route, definitely make it ahead of time so the dried onion can infuse into the dip.
- Dried Herbs: Dried dill is a must for dill dip, and dried parsley adds to the flavor. You can use fresh herbs, but you will want to double the amount called for.
- Seasonings: Garlic powder and kosher salt round out the dip.

- Mix all the ingredients together. Whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, diced onion, onion powder, dried dill weed, parsley, and salt.

As I mentioned above, this dill dip recipe is great for both potato chips and vegetables. Here are a few tips to make it the best:
- I think this recipe gets better the longer it sits in your fridge, but I love that it takes only about five minutes of prep. It’s still great if you decide to just make it at the last minute too.
- If you don’t feel like dicing up an onion, just use some dried onion from the pantry.
- You can use regular mayo or light mayo.
- Serve with chips, crackers, sliced cucumbers, sliced bell peppers, carrots, celery sticks, and grape or cherry tomatoes.
- I love adding a little fresh dill to the top of this for color, but it’s definitely not necessary.
Storing Dill Dip
Keep this dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. If it sits out for more than two hours, toss it. Always use your best discretion when storing and eating leftovers.

I love this dip! I use ALOT of fresh dill which grows in my garden. I use fat free yoghurt instead of sour cream and tell myself this is healthy eaten with veggies!
