How to Make BLT Tacos

Here is a brief overview of how this BLT baked taco recipe comes together. For the full recipe including all measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Cook the bacon. Cook until just crisp and remove from the pan.
  • Cook the chicken. Add the ground chicken (you could also use ground turkey) and the ranch seasoning to the pan that the bacon was cooked in and cook until the chicken is no longer pink. Stir in the cream cheese and remove from the heat.
  • Put the tacos together. Divide the meat mixture between the tacos, about a large spoonful for each taco shell. Top each taco with bacon and cheese.
  • Bake the tacos. Bake the tacos for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and top with tomatoes and lettuce. Enjoy immediately.

Cooking Bacon

When I am cooking bacon for a recipe that calls for it to be in small pieces, I prefer to cut it up before cooking it. It cuts so much easier when it is raw than when it’s cooked. I find it easiest to use kitchen shears, but a sharp knife would also work.

As soon as the bacon pieces start to crisp up, take them out of the pan with a slotted spoon and transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate. If you wait until the bacon is fully crispy, it will be overcooked by the time you add it to your recipe.

Storing and Reheating Leftovers

These oven-baked tacos are best enjoyed fresh, however, if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat them in the oven (covered or wrapped in foil) or air fryer until heated through.

FAQ

Can I use flour tortillas for this recipe?

I wouldn’t recommend that for this. These tacos really need to stand on their own for baking, and that works best with hard shell tacos.

If these are BLT Tacos, why is there chicken in them?

These are BLT tacos, and I wanted to bulk them out a little further. That’s why we are adding the chicken, cream cheese, and mozzarella.

BLT Baked Tacos

Serves: 4
(tap # to scale)
Prep: 25 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes
Total: 45 minutes
BLT Baked Tacos are a super easy and fun dinner idea that the whole family will love. If you are a fan of a BLT sandwich, this is a great new spin.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of bacon diced
  • 1 pound ground chicken (453.6 grams)
  • 1 ounce dry ranch seasoning mix (28 grams)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (113.5 grams)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded (113 grams)
  • 12 hard shell tacos
  • 2 Roma tomatoes diced
  • 2 cups romaine lettuce chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large skillet, cook the bacon until just crisp and remove from the pan. Drain off all of the bacon fat, but there is no need to clean the skillet.
    6 slices of bacon
  • Set the pan back over medium heat and add the ground chicken and the ranch seasoning to the pan. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink. Stir in the cream cheese, allowing it to melt and fully combine. Remove the chicken from the heat.
1 pound ground chicken, 1 ounce dry ranch seasoning mix, 4 ounces cream cheese
  • Arrange the 12 hard shell tacos in a 9 by 13 inch baking dish. I find it best to have 8 shells go down the length of the pan and then put four additional shells on the side in sets of two. Divide the chicken ranch mixture between the tacos, about a large spoonful for each shell. Top each taco with bacon and cheese.
    1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • Bake the tacos for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and top with tomatoes and lettuce. Enjoy immediately.
