This mudslide recipe is easy to make and totally delicious. This cocktail is dessert in a glass that you will absolutely love.

Sometimes when we go out on date nights and it is time for dessert, the only thing that appeals to me is a delicious dessert-like cocktail. If you feel the same way, you will be thrilled to know that this delicious mudslide is the perfect dessert martini. It is made with just a few ingredients and is incredible and smooth.

Mudslide Ingredients

Just four simple ingredients make up this sweet dessert cocktail. For the full recipe including all measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Vodka: Adds a clean, neutral backdrop that blends with the other flavors without overpowering them. While you don’t necessarily need a top-shelf vodka, using a quality vodka will make the drink smooth and balanced.
  • Irish Cream: The creamy, sweet liqueur brings richness to the mudslide with hints of vanilla and cocoa. It gives the drink its signature smoothness and luxurious feel.
  • Kahlua: This coffee liqueur adds a touch of sweetness and a delicious coffee flavor that pairs perfectly with the Irish cream.
  • Heavy Cream: Gives the mudslide its thick, velvety texture. You could substitute it with milk but know that the drink won’t be as thick or creamy.

How to Make a Mudslide

Here is a brief overview of how this Kahlua mudslide drink recipe comes together. For the full recipe including all measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Prepare the glasses. Drizzle chocolate sauce or chocolate syrup (my recommendation is linked in the recipe card) into the inside of the glass. Set the glass in your freezer to set while making the cocktail.
  • Combine all ingredients. Add the vodka, Kahlúa, Baileys Irish Cream liqueur, and heavy cream to a cocktail shaker with lots of ice.
  • Shake until very cold. Shake vigorously until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels very cold.
  • Pour into prepared martini glass. Strain the cocktail into the prepared martini glass. Top with chocolate shavings and enjoy!

Make a Frozen Mudslide

When people think of a mudslide drink, they often think of the boozy adult milkshake version. While I love the simplicity of this classic mudslide, you can also make one with ice cream.

To make a mudslide with ice cream, combine the Kahlua, vodka, and Baileys with two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a blender and blend until smooth. I recommend using larger glasses that can hold more if you make your mudslides this way.
