One of the most popular cocktails on Simple Joy is my Amaretto Sour. I’m sure it’s because it brings back memories of being 21 and not having a care in the world. Or maybe it is because it is made with my homemade Sweet and Sour Mix – the secret ingredient to so many great cocktails.

The Amaretto Stone Sour is an easy twist on that great popular cocktail. In this drink, we are swapping the lemon lime soda for some orange juice. It is a fruity delicious cocktail that you are going to want to come back to over and over.

Homemade Amaretto

If you are an Amaretto lover like me, you might want to consider making your own. Not only is it really easy to make, Homemade Amaretto makes such a great gift. I highly suggest using Kirkland vodka to make it. It is an inexpensive option without sacrificing taste and quality.

Homemade Amaretto

Homemade Amaretto Liqueur is easy to make! Use it in all of your favorite cocktails or package it up as a perfect homemade gift.

Homemade Sweet and Sour Mix

You also may want to make my homemade sweet and sour mix for this recipe. It is the secret ingredient in my Margarita Recipe that makes it a home run. It is easy to make, and freezes very well. I like to freeze it in one ounce portions in an ice cube tray so that I can pull some out for a single cocktail.

Sweet and Sour Mix

Homemade Sweet and Sour Mix takes only three ingredients. It is so easy to make and brightens up cocktails in the best way.

Amaretto Stone Sour vs. Amaretto Sour

Though these two drinks are very similar, they have one key difference. In the Amaretto Sour we use lemon lime soda to top and finish it off. In the Amaretto Stone Sour, we leave out the soda, and add in some orange juice.

How to Garnish an Amaretto Stone Sour

My favorite way to garnish this easy on the rocks cocktail is with a simple orange wedge and a cherry. That being said, this is one of those great cocktails that will be delicious with our without the garnish.
