How to Make Cheeseburger Sliders

Here is a brief overview of how these cheeseburger sliders with Hawaiian rolls come together. For the full recipe, including all ingredients and their measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Cook the Ground Beef

Cook the ground beef in a skillet for about four minutes. Then add the diced onion and cook for an additional five minutes until the beef is cooked through and the onion is soft.

Stir the mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the meat.

Top with the beef mixture in an even layer. Then add the shredded cheese. Cover with the top half of the rolls.

Tips and Tricks

  • Slider rolls: I love to use store-bought Hawaiian slider rolls for this recipe, a 24 pack makes for 24 small and delicious little sliders. Whatever you use, you want to be sure that it is something that will fit snuggly in a 9 by 13 inch baking pan. The base of them needs to be big enough to hold all of the meat. My dinner roll recipe is another great option.
  • Shred your cheese from a block. While buying a bag of pre-shredded cheese cuts some time from the recipe, I don’t think that time saver is worth it. Block cheese that you shred yourself melts and tastes so much better.
  • Making ahead: While these should not be constructed ahead of time, you could make the hamburger mixture ahead of time, which would cut a significant amount of prep time off this recipe.

Leftovers

Leftover sliders should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for three to four days. To reheat, place the sliders that you want to eat in a baking dish, cover, and warm in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 20 minutes.

If you want to freeze your leftovers, you could place the sliders (cut into individual sandwiches) on a parchment-lined baking sheet and then freeze for one hour. Transfer them to an airtight container where they can be stacked and frozen for up to three months.

These are incredible. I’ve made them twice now and they were a hit both times. I didn’t use the brown sugar, but I’m sure they are super good with that in them too. Thanks for sharing!!

Really good with a sandwich dill pickle on them…
