Air Fryer Turkey Burgers make for a simple and delicious dinner. No need to fire up the grill to have delicious and quick burgers!
Turkey burgers are my go-to lunch meal. They are quick to make, delicious, and they leave me full and satisfied all afternoon long. These Air Fryer Turkey Burgers make that meal even easier. This is a great set-and-forget meal.
Turkey Burger Ingredients
These ingredients combine to make the best, juiciest turkey burgers. Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post for the full recipe, including all measurements.
- Ground turkey: I like to use 93% ground turkey.
- Egg whites: Act as a binder to keep the burgers from falling apart as they cook.
- Bread crumbs: Help to bind the burgers and give them a bit of texture. They also absorb some moisture, which keeps the burgers from drying out in the air fryer. You can use gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed.
- Paprika: A combination of seasonings gives the burgers the perfect flavor.
- Brown sugar: Adds a touch of sweetness to the burgers.
- Cumin
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
How to Make Turkey Burgers in The Air Fryer
Here is an overview of how these air fryer turkey burgers come together. For the full recipe including all measurements, be sure to scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
Step 1: Season the Turkey Burgers
While the air fryer is preheating, mix together the ground turkey meat and seasonings in a large bowl until well combined. Divide evenly into four.
Step 2: Form into Four Patties
Shape them into four patties that are roughly four inches across. Create an indent in each burger patty. This helps prevent the turkey burgers from shrinking as they cook.
Step 3: Cook the Turkey Burgers
Add the patties to the air fryer basket and cook at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 to 10 minutes or until the burgers reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Since cook time can vary, use an instant read meat thermometer to know exactly when your turkey burgers are fully cooked to avoid overcooking or undercooking them.
Expert Tip!
Be sure not to overcrowd the air fryer. If they don’t all fit at once (or you want to make a double batch), you may have to cook the turkey burgers in batches.
My Favorite Air Fryer
Homemade Burger Seasoning
I love to keep a batch of my hamburger seasoning on hand. It is perfect on burgers and also serves as a delicious turkey burger seasoning; it adds the perfect flavor to them! You will notice in the recipe card at the bottom of the post that I break down the spices, but you can also use one tablespoon of my burger seasoning instead.

How to Serve Turkey Burgers
- Add a slice of your favorite cheese (I love adding cheddar cheese) to the turkey burger for the final minute of cooking so it can melt to make a cheeseburger.
- Toppings ideas: Cooked bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and your favorite turkey burger condiment. BBQ Sauce, ketchup, mustard, or Garlic Aioli would all be delicious!
- Before building your turkey burger, butter and then toast your hamburger buns in the air fryer for just a minute or two.
Turkey Burger Variations
This is the best turkey burger recipe because it is so simple and results in burgers that are juicy and full of flavor. Here are a few variations and substitutions:
- Want to make hamburgers in the air fryer? Swap the ground turkey for ground beef like my recipe for Air Fryer Burgers.
- Add feta cheese, a delicious yogurt sauce, tomatoes, red onion, and cucumber slices to make Greek Turkey Burgers.
- If you want to make turkey burgers on the grill or stovetop, make my Turkey Burger Recipe.
Making Ahead
If you want to do some of the prep work ahead of time, you definitely could mix up the patties for these the night before. Be sure to stack them with wax paper or parchment paper between the patties and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator so they don’t stick together.
Additionally, you could use the same method of stacking and freezing them. These would store in the freezer in an airtight container for up to three months. They can be cooked from frozen, just know that you will have to cook them a bit longer and monitor their internal temperature.
Storing and Reheating Leftovers
Store any leftover air fryer turkey burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat the portion you plan to eat in the air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about five minutes, or until heated through.
